Highest mountain of Azerbaijan and southernmost point of Russia

Mount Bazardüzü is a mountain in the Greater Caucasus (Russia). Its summit stands 4,466 m above sea level. It is the highest point of AZ. Its prominence — how far it rises above the highest saddle linking it to a taller summit — is 2,454 m, and the nearest higher ground is 259 km away. It was first climbed in 1847.

From the lowest point within 5 km (2,508 m), it rises 1,958 m. The steepest side is the north-east face: 41° on average over the first kilometre. In places the ground near the top reaches 46° — terrain for climbers, not walkers.

The nearest town is Miskindzha, 23 km away at 1,031 m: 3,435 m below the summit.
